Bath of Love
What to do in Guadeloupe as a couple - Alwego's advice
It's in the south of Basse-Terre, on the slopes of the Caribbean Mountains, that you'll find Bain des Amours (Lovers' Bath). A few steps along the path that winds through the rainforest and you'll find yourself immersed in one of the most enchanting places in Guadeloupe. Imagine yourself in the pool of love, with the trees as your sky, in water over 30°C. What if Bain des Amours in Guadeloupe opened the gates of paradise for you?
Go to the Bain des Amours in Dolé
Since you've decided to explore Guadeloupe on a more scenic route, you'll undoubtedly take the D7 departmental road that leads up from Trois-Rivières. A little outside the town of Gourbeyre, the Bain des Amours (Lovers' Bath) is very well signposted. It's near the Capès bottling plant. Although a parking lot has been built for visitors to the bath, many vehicles park along the road. This isn't a problem.
The Bain des Amours in Gourbeyre, a favorite among Guadeloupeans
While this enchanting and beneficial place, thanks to the medicinal properties of its hot springs, is popular with tourists, it is equally beloved by Guadeloupeans. The sulfurous waters that spring from La Soufrière volcano have long been renowned for their healing properties. These waters, which soothe joints, relax muscles, and soften skin, are well known to everyone here.
However, caution is advised; it's best to avoid putting your head underwater, especially for children. Be sure to carefully read the instructions and recommendations clearly displayed at the entrance to the site. They are posted at the top of the steps.
Bath of Love Guadeloupe
After a descent accessible to all (including strollers), you find yourself immersed in the heart of the rainforest, beneath the canopy of trees. The perfectly designed setting invites relaxation, letting go, and above all, daydreaming. The warm waters cascading down the mountain flow into a pool of absolute charm and romance. Heart-shaped, this relatively recent construction welcomes many bathers. 50 cm deep, the pool is 5 meters wide. Settle into these warm waters, rest your arms on the edges, gently tilt your head back, contemplate the sun playing above the trees, and let yourself be lulled by the crystal-clear waters. If happiness isn't here, then it no longer exists... This public bath, also known as the Bain des Amours de Capès, is a public bathing area.
The Bath of Love in Dolé, natural version
Dolé is a locality belonging to the commune of Gourbeyre. These baths are perfectly equipped and easily accessible to everyone. However, if you'd like an even more exotic bathing experience, a short walk further along the same path will take you about 200 meters down to the heart of the forest, to natural, undeveloped pools with slightly cooler water.
